In 2022, I decided to start a Sandlot baseball league in the tiny town of Lockhart, Texas (30 min. From downtown Austin), along with a pal of mine. Quickly, we’d recruited more than 40 individuals—some with skills, most without, to form a haphazard, Bad News Bears type of team, known as the Lockhart Hawks. Eager to give the Austin teams a run for their money, we started practicing in the Texas heat.

This is by far, the role I’m most proud of—having helped the team to form a 501-c3 to raise money for local charities; produced an exclusive vinyl album featuring the musicians on our team (powered by local sponsors); and lastly, working to help us orchestrate building our very own baseball field (Wishing Well Field) from scratch in a cow field set amongst the Texas Bluebonnets.

Our team even managed to win the Sandlot World Series our first year, beating the all-time favorites, the Texas Playboys!
